Lake-Friendly Retailers Receives Recognition

The Commission recognized the commitment and efforts of local retail establishments that help protect and preserve Lake Hopatcong by participating in the Commission’s award-winning lake-friendly fertilizer campaign during its March 2006 LHC meeting.   Retailers were presented with a certificate of recognition to acknowledge their efforts.  Learn more about our recognition event and fertilizer program.

Chair Ondish presented a certificate to former LHC Commissioner Sam Hoagland to recognize his efforts to spearhead the lake-friendly fertilizer program.

The Lake Hopatcong Commission was awarded a 2005 Environmental Excellence Award in the Clean and Plentiful Water Category by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.  The Commission received the award for its leadership and innovation to promote the use “lake-friendly”, phosphorus-free fertilizer and for its aquatic weed harvesting program to improve the lake’s water quality.
