Clean Water Starts With You

LHC Offers Children's Program at Local Libraries

The Lake Hopatcong Commission and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection Watershed Ambassador will be hosting a fun-filled children’s environmental program.    The program, “The Traveling Tales of Water Pollution” will show how our actions link to our water and why it is important to prevent pollution in our lakes, rivers and oceans.  We’ll take a journey with two friends, James and Isaac, as they learn about water pollution and what they do to help.   Register children today for one of the three sessions scheduled at libraries in the Lake Hopatcong area.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on Thursday, April 22, the first program will be held at the Jefferson Township Library.  Registration for the 5:30 program is still open at www.jeffersonlibrary.net

Join us on Monday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. for the program at the Roxbury Public Library. Register by phone at 973-584-2400 ext. 503.

On Thursday, June 24th at 11:00 a.m. the program will be offered in Stanhope at the Louise Childs Memorial Branch of the Sussex County Library System.  To register, call 973-770-1000.

Lisa Dunne, Watershed Ambassador for the Upper Delaware Watershed Region, will lead the program which includes an enjoyable story time and other hands-on activities that show how our water bodies are all connected and how pollution travels from our neighborhood all the way to the ocean.  Lisa serves as a FREE resource to schools, community groups, environmental organizations and citizens of the Upper Delaware Region which the Lake Hopatcong Watershed is located in.

The program is offered through the Lake Hopatcong Commission outreach program funded by a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Targeted Watershed Grant.  Anyone interested in learning more about the program or offering the program for other children’s groups ages K-6 can contact the Lake Hopatcong Commission at 973-601-1070.
